A dashing miser, Tamahome, is the first celestial warrior of the god Suzaku that Miaka, the protagonist of the story, met. From being a family guy who supports his family alone, Tamahome matures as the story goes. Tamahome becomes a strong-willed Suzaku celestial warrior who protects his companions, and love one with his life.

Tamahome is the eldest son of the Sou/Xong family. He is the person who stands as the father and the mother of his family. He is willing to take any job however hard it may be to support his bedridden father. Tamahome's mother died when Tamahome was twelve years old; she died from giving birth to Tamahome's youngest sister Jie-Lian, who is Tamahome's favorite sibling. Because his job is beating up bad guys, he helps people by doing so, for he only ask for a little payment even if the service that he gives is hard. This show's Tamahome's humble and kind personality. He is very chipper and usually gives funny expressions, however, Tamahome is also strong inside and out.

Personality

Tamahome is very chipper whenever something good happens. He has a huge fetish for money, and he constantly count all his savings whenever he has time. He finds it amusing counting all the money that he had received from working. He is only interested in helping people knowing that he will receive money later. He has a comical character, but is actually hides strong emotions to himself. He is true, forward, and sincere towards the people that he loves. He is willing to sacrifice himself in order to protect the one he loves. He is the kind of guy who any girl would love to be with since his character is very lovable.
